A JSON file is a complete portable copy of a Room Sketch 3D design. Import one to restore a backup, move a design between accounts, or open a shared design file.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the JSON import

From New Design, choose Import JSON. Or, from the dashboard, the same option lives in the menu.

  2. 2

    Select the JSON file

Browse and pick the .json file. The design loads in the editor with all geometry, fixtures, furniture, and settings preserved.

  3. 3

    Save it to your account

The imported design lives in your dashboard like any other. Rename it if needed; edit freely.

Frequently asked questions

What's in the JSON file?

Everything that defines the design — room geometry, walls, doors, windows, furniture, settings, multi-floor structure. No images or external assets.

Can I edit the JSON manually?

Yes, if you're careful. It's a standard JSON structure. Don't change IDs; do edit dimensions, positions, or labels as needed.
