Setting wall and ceiling heights

Give walls different heights — or different heights at each corner — to model vaulted ceilings and sloped roofs in the 3D view.

Updated 2026-06-18

Wall height (which is also the ceiling height) defaults to 8 feet — the residential standard. Change it per-room, per-wall, or per-vertex for sloped roofs.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Change room ceiling height

Select the room (click an empty area inside the room). Inspector → Ceiling Height. Type the value (typically 8, 9, or 10 feet).

  2. 2

    Per-wall height override

Select a specific wall. The Inspector shows its Height — 8 feet by default, with quick presets (9', 10', 11') or a custom value. Use this for half-walls, partial walls, or walls that step up/down.

Select a wall — the Inspector shows its height, with quick presets and a custom option.
  3. 3

    Per-vertex ceiling heights (sloped/vaulted)

Inspector → Edit Ceiling Heights. Each room corner gets a height. Set different values per corner to create vaulted, sloped, or shed ceilings. The 3D view renders the resulting slope.

Raising one wall makes the ceiling slope up to meet it — a vaulted ceiling, in 3D.

Tips

8 feet for standard residential

Old homes and tract houses. 9 feet for new construction first floor. 10+ for high-end or formal.
