Placement and code
Exterior wall only. Room Sketch 3D rejects taps on interior walls when the Garage Door tile is selected — the door is a boundary between inside (garage) and outside (driveway), so an interior wall doesn't make sense for it. Setback. Most jurisdictions require the garage door face to sit at least 18–25 feet behind the property line (so the driveway is long enough to park a vehicle outside without overhanging the sidewalk). Check local zoning. Slope. The driveway approach should slope away from the garage so water runs off — typically ¼ inch per foot away from the door. Egress. Garage doors don't count as code egress — bedrooms above garages still need their own egress windows. Fire separation. The wall between an attached garage and the house's living space must be fire-rated (typically 5/8-inch fire-rated drywall on the garage side). The garage door itself isn't part of this — the fire-rated wall is the interior wall between the garage and the conditioned space.

For 2- or 3-door layouts, each panel gets its own width input (`#1`, `#2`, `#3`) so you can set asymmetric widths (e.g. one 8-foot and one 10-foot side-by-side). 5.
